TRANSIT CONNECT ADDS DIESEL

Ford unveiled its 2019 Transit Connect Cargo Van with new engines, and driver-assist technologies.

“The original Transit Connect’s compact size resonated with customers searching for a more maneuverable and efficient commercial van,” said Tim Stoehr, Ford general fleet marketing manager. “We’ve enhanced Transit Connect’s available technology and powertrains to keep up with what our customers need. It is a critical tool with smart features to help improve productivity out in the field.”

Ford adds a available 1.5 litre EcoBlue turbocharged diesel engine to Transit Connect Cargo Van, offering an estimated 30 mpg, emission-control technologies, and fuel injection. The standard engine will now be a 2.0L inline-four, which is E85 compatible and offers a standard heavy-duty battery and available heavy-duty alternator. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and come with automatic start/stop and EcoMode and EcoCoach (which monitor fuel economy and show how to drive more efficiently).

Fleets can still get the 2.5L inline-four cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic and CNG/propane gas fuel prep package.

Technology abounds with automatic emergency braking now standard on all Transit Connect Cargo Van models, as are pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, side wind stabilization and rearview camera. Available safety features include: blind spot information system with cross-traffic alert, lane keeping system, and adaptive cruise control.

Transit Connect comes standard with embedded 4G LTE model to provide Wi-Fi for 10 devices, as well as available wireless phone charging and SYNC 3 with a 6.5-inch touch screen. 2019 Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van will be available in the fall.
